Cancellation Policy

Understand our cancellation and refund policy for Schoolyst subscriptions.

Effective date: June 9, 2026 · Last updated: June 9, 2026

This Cancellation Policy ("Policy") explains how you may cancel your Schoolyst account or subscription, what happens when you cancel, and how billing works in relation to our 30-day free trial and paid plans. This Policy supplements our Terms of Service and should be read together with them.

Schoolyst ("Schoolyst," "we," "us," or "our") offers a 30-day free trial so you can evaluate the platform before committing to a paid subscription. Because the trial is free and no payment is required to start, Schoolyst does not offer refunds on subscription fees once a paid plan has been purchased.

1. Overview

  • Free trial: 30 days, no credit card required
  • Refunds: Not offered on paid subscriptions
  • Cancellation: Available at any time
  • Post-cancellation access: Until end of current billing period (paid plans)
  • Data export: Available before and during cancellation window

2. Free Trial

2.1 Trial Period

New users and institutions may start a 30-day free trial of Schoolyst. During the trial, you can access features included in the selected trial plan as described on our Pricing page.

2.2 No Payment During Trial

Unless you explicitly choose to upgrade to a paid plan before the trial ends, you will not be charged during the free trial. We do not require a credit card to start the trial on standard plans.

2.3 End of Trial

When the 30-day trial ends:

  • If you have not subscribed to a paid plan, your access to premium features may be suspended or limited.
  • You may still be able to log in for a limited period to export data or subscribe, subject to our current account policies.
  • We may send reminder emails before your trial expires so you can subscribe or export data.

2.4 Cancelling During Trial

You may cancel at any time during the free trial without charge. No cancellation fee applies. Cancelling during the trial simply means you choose not to continue or upgrade to a paid subscription.

3. Paid Subscriptions

3.1 Billing Cycles

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select. Your billing date is determined by the date you first subscribe to a paid plan.

3.2 No Refunds

All subscription fees are non-refundable. This includes:

  • Monthly and annual subscription fees
  • Partial billing periods
  • Unused time after cancellation
  • Downgrades from a higher-tier plan
  • Fees for add-ons or additional services, where applicable

We encourage all customers to fully use the 30-day free trial to evaluate whether Schoolyst meets their needs before purchasing a paid plan. Because the trial is provided at no cost, refunds are not necessary for evaluation purposes.

Exceptions apply only where refunds are expressly required by applicable law. Nothing in this Policy limits your statutory rights as a consumer where such rights cannot be waived.

4. How to Cancel

You may cancel your subscription using any of the following methods:

4.1 Self-Service (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your Schoolyst dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Billing or Account Settings.
  3. Select "Cancel subscription" or equivalent option.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation.

4.2 Email Request

If you are unable to cancel through the dashboard, email hello@schoolyst.in from the email address associated with your account. Include your school name, account email, and a clear request to cancel. We will process verified requests within five (5) business days.

4.3 Institutional Accounts

For school or multi-branch accounts, cancellation must be requested by an authorized account administrator. We may verify authority before processing cancellation to protect institutional data.

5. Effect of Cancellation

5.1 Paid Plans

When you cancel a paid subscription:

  • Future billing stops: You will not be charged for subsequent billing periods.
  • Access continues until period end: You retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing cycle (monthly or annual), unless otherwise stated at cancellation.
  • No prorated refund: Fees already paid for the current billing period are not refunded.
  • Auto-renewal disabled: Your subscription will not renew automatically after the current period ends.

5.2 After Billing Period Ends

Once your paid period expires following cancellation:

  • Access to premium features will be suspended or downgraded.
  • You may lose the ability to add or edit records depending on account status.
  • Read-only access or limited login may be available for a short grace period to facilitate data export, at our discretion.

6. Data Export and Retention After Cancellation

6.1 Export Your Data

Before or during cancellation, you are strongly encouraged to export your school's data (student records, reports, and other Customer Data) using available export tools in the dashboard or by contacting support. We will provide reasonable assistance for data export upon request during an active or recently cancelled subscription.

6.2 Data Deletion

After cancellation and any applicable retention or grace period, we may delete or anonymize Customer Data from our production systems in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax or audit records).

6.3 Backup Retention

Residual copies of data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten as part of normal backup rotation. We do not restore deleted production data from backups except where legally required or technically necessary for disaster recovery involving active customers.

7. Account Deletion vs. Subscription Cancellation

Cancelling a subscription stops future billing but may leave your account intact for reactivation or data access during the remainder of the billing period.

Deleting your account is a separate, more permanent action. If you wish to permanently delete your account and associated personal data (subject to legal retention requirements), contact privacy@schoolyst.in. Account deletion may be irreversible.

8. Cancellation by Schoolyst

We may suspend or terminate your account without refund if you violate our Terms of Service, engage in fraudulent activity, fail to pay outstanding fees, or if continued service poses a legal or security risk. In such cases, the no-refund policy still applies to fees already paid, except where prohibited by law.

If we discontinue the Services entirely, we will provide reasonable advance notice and an opportunity to export data. Any remedy in such rare circumstances will be determined at our discretion and as required by applicable law.

9. Plan Changes and Downgrades

If you downgrade your plan, the change typically takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Downgrades do not entitle you to a refund or credit for the difference between plans in the current billing period, unless expressly stated otherwise at the time of change.

Upgrades may take effect immediately, with prorated charges for the remainder of the billing period where applicable.

10. Reactivation

If you cancel but do not delete your account, you may be able to reactivate your subscription by logging in and selecting a plan, subject to current pricing and feature availability. Data that was retained during the grace period may be restored; data deleted after retention periods cannot be recovered.

11. Contact and Billing Disputes

For billing questions, cancellation assistance, or disputes regarding charges, contact:

  • Email: hello@schoolyst.in
  • Phone: +91 1800-555-1234 (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM IST)
  • Address: Schoolyst, 6th Phase, JP Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560078, India

Please contact us within fourteen (14) days of any billing issue so we can investigate promptly. Unauthorized chargeback abuse may result in account suspension.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cancellation Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes affecting active subscribers will be communicated via email or in-app notice where appropriate.
